Preschool blocks and play dough for immersive learning

We strive for children to develop healthy, positive relationships with peers, adults, and the natural world. We create a seamless link between home, school, and the local community.

We inspire a sense of wonder in children by providing a safe place to experiment, discover, and question their environment.

These values shape our curriculum and programming. They’re designed to prepare children for a lifetime of learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom.

We’re across the street from Laurelhurst Park — a neighborhood jewel with ballfields, a children’s playground, and walking trails — and the vibrant community of Laurelhurst Elementary School.

We cultivate hands-on mastery through the use of different media, materials, and cognitive concepts, including fine arts, math, science, geography, social skills development, and social justice.

We teach in the Episcopal tradition, which means we practice inclusion, acceptance, and discovery in the way of love.

Literacy and Language Arts

  • We use a multi-modal approach to learning vocabulary development and articulation which teaches the alphabet, phonemic awareness, rhyming, and pre-sound blending in a playful and concrete manner.

Math

  • We use developmentally appropriate activities, rhymes, and manipulatives to teach counting, comparisons, spatial awareness, patterning, sequencing, matching, sorting, problem solving, and Pre-K geometry. Children also develop language skills that help them learn about and express math concepts.

Outdoor Education

  • We have a multi-acre green space and playground across the street. Studies have shown that immersion in nature stimulates the brain, nurturing children to make deeper connections.

Science

  • Science and discovery is integrated into the daily curriculum with age-appropriate materials that promote exploration and experimentation through visual, verbal, and kinesthetic modes.

Spiritual Formation

  • The Episcopal Church is one of the most open churches of the Christian Faith. We respect the dignity of every person modeling high standards of behavior and mutual respect for one another. Chapel will be held weekly with lessons and music that reflect inclusive non-sectarian values. Our teachings will include the religions of the world, so your children will learn to appreciate the religions of their neighbors. We hope to instill values such as love, kindness, honesty, and responsibility in your child as part of their learning experiences.

This is where families come together and children soar.

All are welcome here!
