Cloud 9 Academy offers a playful, hands-on, academic learning environment for children ages 30 months through 5 years of age. We’re a developmentally appropriate, child-centered school run by a caring and highly experienced team of teachers.
Nurturing Meaningful Connections
At our preschool, children explore, experiment, discover, and create in a warm environment that is conducive to learning.
Each day, children experience stories, art, science, math, and music through meaningful activities.
In addition to planned curriculum, the environment also allows them to experience and discover all that St. Stephen’s and the Laurelhurst community have to offer.

The arts are an essential part of everything we do. We believe in employing themes that are meaningful to preschool children to broaden their interests and engage curiosity.
Our Team
Cloud 9 Academy is the brainchild of The Rev’d Dr. Suzi Robertson, educator and priest, who has studied and worked with children for over 40 years. Suzi is the Interim Rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Laurelhurst, Seattle, but first and foremost an educator. She has overseen numerous schools in Washington, Texas, and Tanzania in East Africa. Children are drawn to her philosophy.
Our History
Cloud 9 Academy got its name from a former beloved consignment shop in Seattle. After it was sold, the proceeds were used to set up a foundation in support of local and international causes, many supporting children. It was Suzi’s idea to keep the legacy alive and name a school after this mission. Welcome to the Cloud 9 community!
Curriculum
Play, connect, grow, include, and respect — these values shape our preschool curriculum and programming. They’re designed to prepare children for a lifetime of learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom.
Enrollment
Our preschool is currently registering for our Summer Program as well as the 2024-2025 school year. We are offering a Monday through Friday morning schedule (8:30am-12:30pm) for children from 30 months through 5 years. We encourage a regular M-F program for children to maintain a consistent schedule. However, we offer part-time options and drop-in daycare to honor a variety of family needs.
